Lollywood refers to the Pakistani film industry, based in the city of Lahore. The name is a portmanteau of Lahore and Hollywood.
Lollywood is also called as Urdu cinema as most of its feature-films are in the national language of Pakistan i.e Urdu. However, nowadays, the usage of English language with Urdu has produced a new touch in Pakistani films. A few films are also made in two or even three languages (either using subtitles, or several soundtracks). Often, such code switching is a marker of youth or social mobility of characters.
