Punjabi dialogues scuttle ‘Singh Is Kinng’ run in Bihar
Mumbai, Aug 21 (IANS) Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘Singh Is Kinng’ has done good business all over the country and overseas, but the romantic comedy is a flop in Bihar due to the heavy dose of Punjabi dialogues.
‘The Punjabi dialogues, songs and dances went against the film. The Bihar distributor paid a whopping amount of money to buy ‘Singh Is Kinng’ and is now going to lose a hefty amount,’ Suman Sinha, one of Bihar’s primary exhibitors, told IANS. Continue Reading »
Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na Movie Review
Another Movie from Aamir Khan staring Imran Khan (Aamir Khan’s nephew) and Genelia. Lets see how it will turn out on the box office. The story of Janne Tu… Janne Na revolves around college life with little touch of masti and maza.
While Jaane Tu is Imran’s debut vehicle, it is really Genelia who steals the show. The actress is a real livewire on screen and conveys those annoying feelings of jealousy, confusion, irritability and fake happiness without any problem.
Within the gang, who sport very Bombay nicknames such as Rats (Jai), Meow (Aditi), Bombs (Sandhya), Jiggy (Jignesh), the guys fare much better than the girls. Jiggy delights as the Gujju while Rotlu and Bombs together are smashing as the couple who discover each other as soul mates when left solo by their crushes, Jai and Aditi.
Supporting cast members like Ratna Pathak Shah as Jai’s mum, Paresh Rawal as the police inspector, Naseeruddin Shah, as Jai’s dead Rajput father who speaks from his portrait hold, fort magnificently.
Even the sub-plot of Jai’s rite of passage as a true male Rathore from Ranjhore family by fulfilling three conditions - beating up a person, spending time in jail and riding a horse - is largely saved and made palatable by way of the safe casting of the Shahs and Arbaaz and Sohail Khan, who appear as Rathore boys in the guise of dancing cowboys.
On a whole jaane tu ya jaane na is a lovely cute movie honestly.
Its not a story which never heard or seen but then just like aamir said, It does revive good old college days and bring us a nice love story..
Performances:
Coming to acting, every character has performed well enough.
Debutant Imran looks cool and acting is admirable.
I am not too much in favour of genelia but still she was good in the movie…
It’s a love story we all have seen earlier as well. But Abbas Tyrewala made it in such a way that movie looks fresh and touching.
Music: was as expected and well picturized. Thanks to Rehman. Imran would surely notch up a hit with this debut. The movie will surely have a decent opening.
Overall a sweet movie..

Ranbir Kapoor voted as Sexiest star in Pakistan
He is just one film old and the film has not done that well, yet filmmakers are making a beeline to sign Ranbir Kapoor. Recently a lifestyle magazine from Pakistan voted him the sexiest star and he even beat the likes of Aamir and Saif.
Too bad the magazine has been chasing the star to get his interview, but the actor is too hard to get!
Insiders reveal that in an agreement with Tips, Ranbir has asked for 8 crores as his fees and a share in the profit of the film. If this is true then he is surely the highest paid new actor in B town.

No Interest for Acting: Zeba Bhaktiyar
Panaji (PTI): Zeba Bhaktiyar, the Pakistani actress who stormed Bollywood with her beauty and acting skills in the early 1990s with Randhir Kapoor’s ‘Heena’, says acting does not interest her anymore.
“After ‘Heena’, I did a couple of films and later gave up acting to concentrate on direction and producing TV serials. I am more into producing and directing content for television in Pakistan. Television is more thriving back home and is more creative. I do act in television serials occasionally,” Zeba said.
“Television is more open, creative and message driven. My serials are focussing on cultural, traditional issues involving women,” she said.
The actress is here in connection with the South Asian Film Festival (SAFF) being held in Goa for the first time.
Speaking about films, she said that the Pakistan film industry went through a bad patch in the last two decades but is now recuperating fast.
“The revival process has begun and one can say that it is breathing now. The filmmakers are welcoming new ideas,” she said.
Bakhtiyar was all praise for Mahesh Bhatt, considered as a pioneer for beginning a new phase in Indo-Pak film ties. “He has given chance to several Pakistani talents to showcase their capabilities to Indian audiences,” she said.
Responding to a question on whether the new government is helpful to the cause of promoting cinema in Pakistan, she said the present government in Pakistan has not set in as yet.
“We are all waiting to see the difference,” she added.
“Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic” Movie Review
The film “Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic” is a non-realistic romantic -comedy film for families and kids, having a few magical moments. The audience who liked to watch “Boothnath” will love to watch “Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic.” The film has no drama, suspense, actions, thrills, unexpected turning points or any substance attached to it. The film has a plain simple predictable script. The film has superior performances from actress Rani Mukherjee and Saif Ali Khan and surprisingly fine performances from the kids. The music of the film has the advantage of having the song “Lazy Lamhe”.
The film has got inspirations from many Hollywood movies like “Mary Poppins” and “The Sound of Music” and it looks to be a Disney kind of love –drama with magic inputs. The story of the film starts off from the childhood of Ranbeer Talwar who was brought up in an orphanage and he studies in a boarding school where he gets acclaimed for being a good student .As a youth he is a successful businessman and one day he crashes his car into a SUV that kills Mr and Mrs Wallia.
Ranbeer is sentenced by the court to secure the four little children of the couple - Vasisht, Avantika, Aditi and Iqbal –financially and emotionally, for at least three months trial period and if Ranbeer fails to take care of the kids, he will be sent to custody with a non-bail able prison sentence.
Ranbeer, who has been successful in practical life, is unfortunate in relations and he lost his parents, teachers and even his love, and therefore he has turned into a hard hearted man. The kids have made up their minds to take revenge on Ranbeer and he has a task ahead to make the orphan kids live happily with their new guardian. The kids and Ranbeer pray to the God for help and god sends Geeta, an angel to help them. Everything is settled by the magic and love, showered by the angel, on the four kids and Ranbeer.
Kunal Kohli looks inspired by the Disney and Hollywood kids movies. Cinematography of the film is pretty. Amisha Patel’s “Lazy Lamhe” is wonderful and she looks glamorous in her small role. The music of the film is average. The performance of Rani Mukherjee and Saif Ali Khan is natural and impressive. Ayushi Burman, Rachit Sidana, Akshat Chopra and Baby Shriya Sharma have given expert performances and they do not look to be debuting in movies. The kids portray well the current genre’s grown up kids’ image.
The film will not get audience, searching for dramatic movies with actions, suspense thriller but the film comes under the section of light fun family movies and these kinds of movies are less in number in bollywood. The film will get above average box – office collections and the film will easily recover the cost incurred in production.

According to media reports, Southern Siren Asin would be paired opposite Bollywood’s current superstar Akshay Kumar in Priyadarshan’s laugh riot ‘Aise Ko Taisa’.
